DAN CURRIER

how to set up obs scenesEveryone and their brother is trying to start a career as a streamer… which is a valid goal to have. If you want to give it a shot, then you need to learn at least some of the basic tools like OBS and then master the art of OBS scenes.

“What are you talking about?”

Keep calm and read on. We got you.

What Is OBS?

Sadly, it is not edible, but it is one of the most popular tools that streamers use for– well– their streams (of course).

Open Broadcaster Software, also known as OBS, is an open-source tool that you can use for offline video recording and live streams.

This tool allows you to get creative by letting you mix audio and video sources to a single output. You can make your live streams more fun by using OBS scenes instead of just plainly sharing your screen or settling with your webcam video.

What Is An OBS Scene?

Setting up OBS is as simple as installing any other program on your laptop or PC.

Once the program is ready, you can go ahead and play around with OBS scenes for better streaming output.

Learning this feature can help turn your average-looking stream into a professional live stream with high production value.

If done right, no one could tell that you did it with a free tool.

Scenes on OBS refer to visual templates that show several elements on the screen for your audience. OBS scenes allow you to customize your layout, add live feeds from your webcam, configure audio feeds, and more.

How To Add an OBS Scene

So where is this fantastic feature?

Once you open OBS, there is a Scene section on the panel right below the main screen. It is hard to miss.

Click the + in the Scenes section in the lower left of your OBS window.

Type the name of your scene.

Add your overlays, sources, and general on-screen elements under the relevant scene.

You can create multiple OBS scenes.

Make sure that the right scene is selected before you add elements.

Once you have added a scene, you can now add some elements.

Click the + in the Sources section in the lower middle of your OBS window.

Play around with the different sources you can add to your Scenes. OBS will prompt you once you select a source to finish adding it to your Scene.

It will take a little trial and error to get your Scene looking exactly how you want it.

Streamers use OBS scenes to add alerts and overlays to make their streams more visually appealing and unique. This is where you can go nuts with your branding.

And that’s it. Congratulations!

Content is king, but it won’t hurt to add some razzle-dazzle into the equation. People are still going to watch your streams if your content is good, but making your presentation easier on the eyes can help you better engage your audience.

OBS scenes are essential for streamers regardless of their experience level. It is like setting up your stage before you perform.
