DAN CURRIER

creators blockAre you struggling to find topics for your videos or, even worse, are you full of ideas that you feel like don’t align with your channel?

Strategy paralysis, much?

Me too!

What do I mean by strategy paralysis? It’s pretty simple. You have an idea about what your channel should be focused on…a niche, if you will.

Too much focus can impede your ability to move forward as a creator.

Let’s talk it out so we can move forward!

Is Strategy Paralysis Affecting You?

Having a strategy is huge. Being able to zoom in on a particular niche and publish content that helps people is the mission for most of us.

It’s easy to hyperfocus on exactly what our content should look like, but we can get a pigeon-holed into being too focused.

We focus more on being focused than on creating good content.

That’s the paralysis part!

Don’t Lose Sight of Your Long-Term Strategy

I think sometimes we get too focused on the here and now and lose sight of our long-term goals for our channels.

The thing you should realize is that one single video, this one week or one month in the grander scheme isn’t going to make or break your channel.

It’s easy to forget that YouTube is a long game. We’ve got to go the distance. It’s a long-term commitment.

So what should we focus on the most?

Are we offering value and are we helping people?

That’s why we make content.

Whether you’re trying to make people laugh, answer their questions, or solve their problems, the important thing to consider is that you’re providing value.

Don’t get so caught up in your strategy that you lose sight of what is important: putting out content that helps other people or gives them the value that they’re looking for.

If you’re shutting yourself down before you even develop an idea fully, that’s detrimental to the process.

Fixating on how a video will perform will squash your creativity.

Get in Front of the Camera and Make a Video!

One of the things I’ve discovered is the longer you put off making videos, the less you want to get in front of the camera and make videos.

So, this is for all of you that are struggling with that.

I know you don’t think your idea is good enough.

Break the cycle and get in front of the camera!

Even if your idea is different from the content you normally make, don’t worry about it.

Your core audience won’t let you down! The important thing is that you provide value to your audience.

Don’t be afraid to experiment a little to do that.

The more you deviate from that set, straight path, the more opportunities you’ll uncover.

You might even find something that resonates more with your audience than what you’ve been doing!

Try it and see!
